BLOGSTAR OF DECEMBER !!

SITUATIONS

Words  were  expressed  easily,
Emotions  were  never  grounded  deeply.
Fun  and  frolic   was  always  involved,
No  cries  were  ever  allowed.
No  priorties and no conditions applied,
My  eyes  always  spoke  true and  so  u came by.
Now  when  the  world  has turned  upside  down,
Beauty  of  relations  has  changed  into  a dead  ground.
Change in  neither  aura  nor   mind  ,
Food  for  thought  still  alive.
Awestruck  I  stand  on what I see,
In the  heat  as  if  freezing  in  the  sea.
No   explanations  in  the  scene,
Isolation  is  what  I  finally  see.

Balancing myself.........

Many a times balancing myself...not to fall.
Many a times, thinking a lot to value each step i take.
Many a times, challenging myself ..yes...i m the best nd can do it all.
The pic above is perhaps, one of my favourites. I dnt know why, but, it often reminds me of myself...
ofcourse not walking on the tracks..but ya..
Many a times...encouraging myself..when i know nobody else can convince me but me myself.

Many a seasons when no concrete results are to be found.
Many days when no one knows how I sound.
With so many "many", i rarely fall...although I disbalance a lot.,
In all those moments..."I m the one who's alwayz there for myself:"
(perhaps..last  line was too cheesy..but i still like it).

May be I m lacking words today,
may be i m not very sure of what to say.,
may be my prose and poetry have signed a joint account,
may be i m too hazy nd knocked out,,
may be this is jst a part of the literary game,
nd may be i m writing so much..but
all of it sounds the same...
finally,concluding..i got my rythm back,
nd now  I m gng to have watever I lack.

That Thing About Writers

And I was asked to interview him. How as a child I always wanted to have a glimpse of his demeanor . He was and still is my favourite writer. The connection isn't esoteric , unlike the other things in life. I like his words , and the way he veils some , and says a lot, more than one can decipher. He forages the readers mind and hits exactly on the subject that would excite them. And in my case, I'm simply dumbstruck by his language!
He had a subtle hint of youth on his face, making him more attractive than those of his age. Attraction has different weird laws, those which are culpable to ruin hearts and brain , mine was just normal, I'm usually not used to being attached.
Nevertheless that was not the topic of concern. I had to focus on this interview . Its the only thing that pays .

And he lit up his cigar carefully, and with dreamy eyes overlooked my presence, while I watched him like a puppy wailing for attention. And after , I suppose, pondering upon each and every thing in our vicinity , he noticed I was there to interview him. Felt like euphoria (sorry for exaggerating).

My heart doubled the beat , while he smiled, and said " Yeah . Lets start "
I wondered is the thing I'll next do as exotic as his gesture, but never mind, I'll begin, the time of my life .
" Sir , How did you decide to enter this field ?  I mean writing was a scarcely populated profession in India while you must have decided to take it up. Din't the other professions lure you ? "

He passed me a humble glimpse, and said " Never . I'm not lured by things tangible by instinct . I always believed there's a power in some selective people of this world , by which they rule minds of the rest of the people. I wanted   such clout . And so here I am. I love Bryan Adams by the way . Do you ? "

What was that !!
" ofcourse I do sir. He's epic ! "

He passed a smile again. This time, an unadjustable one.

Ohkay .. So I'll move to my next question .

" Sir do you believe in legends ? "
He dreamily looked away from me, as if I drifted him into some other world, and with a meaningful smile , spoke
" If only men were immortal , I would have believed in legends. They die along with the people who took them as legends. There's nothing like legends "

Deep thought. Burp !
" Sir are you a liar or you stick to the veracity of words "
He : " I'm human. Thats all I've known till now. And you my girl, must change this categorical chase. What fits in , is always out of this world ;) "

I like the my girl and the bonus wink . And it all made me profusely blush!

" Sir ... "
" Call me Riyaan "
:D
I think he'll add me on Facebook now !!

" Sure Riyaan. what according to you is growing old ? "
" Just like old times and memories, age also learns to wither . For good or for bad, I certainly want to witness an age of obvious oblivion. No one would then at least blame me for the things I forget. I can be choosy in remembering  with wish and will "

I looked at my diary on which I was writing his answers . I wanted to know which one of them will count as answers anyway .
I resumed .

" Riyaan , Whats Love ? "
Riyaan submerged his eyelids into each other. His face looked beautiful as if carved after taking time, carved after giving love.

And then he took a long breath and said.
" someone will adore the air I breathe , and understand my silent arcs and my consequent lust . Love will be unsaid, just in her eyes and floating freely in my heart "

I took time to understand his words . They were indeed lovely .

" So you believe in silent love ? "

" Yes. Whats spoken is for mere pleasure . I just failed to define it. How can someone love and define too ? "
I was in awe of his words. How can some things, as mere as words, make you feel brimmed with things beyond your understanding ?
I asked again , this time, out of curiosity , " So you are in love ? "
Though I would feel a pang of jealousy if he says yes , but my boss might get happy if I get a straight answer to this one .
He smiled. Me too . And said , " Till I'm not done with the definition of love , I can't get close to it. I guess I'll take my own time figuring things out. "

And I took it to be a no.

" ok Riyaan. Thank you for all this time. I am enlightened by your presence. Hope your next book comes out soon. We're desperately waiting !! " and wondered if I'm sounding fake after my last line.
And he , just smiled, and said " Thank you "

While on my way back I wondered what pleasure it gives people like Riyaan to play with words. Its not like playing with someones mind . But more like playing with your own mind and soul, everytime looking for what you would want , what you have always wanted. And airing them in a way , that your words, no matter how crisp , rude or vulgar , will be adored.

Power will stay in their hands. I feel like the pawn .
And he did add me on facebook !
:D

Incredible India!!

Enhancing India’s glory, with its success story... The opening and closing ceremony marks
the success of any occasion, the ceremony in the Nehru Stadium was a sensation with
sprawling 60000 audiences there and billions of television viewers like us. The vibes in the
air glass cased as India being ‘The Golden Bird’ as when the aura was jammed with golden
hues. Athlete’s village was covered with more than 6700 athletes from 71 different countries
making Delhi Commonwealth Games the biggest ever. With the shimmering and stunning
explosives in the sky, the 70 crore aerostat escalated 25 metres high, reflecting the radiance
and shades of the rostrum as an indication of the opening of the games. The Rajasthani
puppets drooped from the vivid aerostat as greetings to its excited spectators. It seemed that
the field was filled with every blend of RGB, the three basic colours exhibiting India’s
diverse culture and traditions and its fiscal position. 1000 drummers from places like Ladakh,
Punjab, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka heralded the occasion
with a bang. The eager crowd was then addressed by the dignitaries present. The howl of the
mass gave optimistic energy to the OC(Organising Committee). Every criticism went
missing, and people were all over keyed up for their nation’s pride. Former President Dr A P
J Kalaam was greeted most heartily and Kalmaadi was booed at the most. PM Man Mohan
Singh welcomed everyone and wished to establish a bond of unity. And then, the awaiting,
Prince Charles who was representing the royal family and thus Queen Elizabeth (who is the
head of the CWG); read the Queen’s message and declared the Games owpen. On behalf of
Delhi and the nation, President Pratibha Patil concluded her speech by announcing “The 2010
Commonwealth Games in Delhi are now open. Let the Games begin”. That was the
moment of pride and pleasure with the heart throbbing for the nation; and the
thunderous multitude’s roar hailed for the country. The Queen’s baton had been handed
over just a year ago at London's Buckingham Palace and was carried through relay runners
through all the countries and territories of the Commonwealth. This baton was carried by the
sporting champions; to start with was the handsome Olympics bronze medallist boxer
Vijender Singh and was handed over to the Prince of Wales by the wrestler Sushil Kumar.
Then various march pasts hit the path with grandeur; numerous men carried the flags of
different nations with celebrated India leading the way! Pakistan was applauded
extraordinarily like we make the best of friends! Then the Games flag was hoisted when the
well-groomed and dashing Indian captain, Abhinav Bindra(Olympic gold medallist), on
behalf of all the athletes took the oath and carried our esteemed tri colour. The sight was then
an azure in the aerostat and a booming and dazzling of the fireworks which was a striking
view. The drapes dropped inaugurating the 5000 years of Indian culture with the Guru
Shishya parampara of imparting gen with the background tune of ‘budhham sharnam
gachhaami’. Blue of the spaceship aerostat turned green and a newness bloomed the vision.
Classical dances from different states in myriad shades of orange, green, blue, white, green
show cased the various climates; all tapping in unison to their own steps on the same music
presenting the basic of India’s heritage ‘unity in diversity’. Krishna and Gopiyaan played
raasleela on enchanting songs and vibrant dresses...with the music tatdhoom dhoom! Then the
secular India came into view with the Yogic poses of people in lighted heads. The aerostat
descended to emerge the knowledge tree which was an enlightening man with emerging
powers. Technology drove the glittering spirals in the human. It portrayed the shakti of a man

which takes energy from all the Gods. Next on the melody of ‘chaiyaan chaiyaan’ came the
country’s glory, Indian railways with Hussain hailing on the engine of the train to explore the
nation. It was the ‘vividh sanskriti ki jhalak’ with the common man, the
politicians, ‘jhoomar’, large turban and a but obvious ‘nimboo mirchi’ to shield the games
from bad lucks, our village was portrayed. The harmonious ‘vaishno jan to tene kahiye’ was
played and the Father of the nation was recalled through sand paintings on the historic dandi
march. The knowledge tree turned to the image of Mahatma Gandhi. Prince Charles and his
wife were intensely absorbed by the magnificence of the event. So he termed it
an “experience of lifetime”! It really was! We wished Bapu were here! Now the vibrancy
with colours came and dances from several states with greeting flowers came with the stirring
music of ‘dhol baaje ...dhol..ki dham dham baaje dhol..’ Then came the most awaited ‘theme
song’ of the CWG by A.R. Rehmaan.. it came like..”Jeeyo, utho, Badho, Jeeto Tera mera
jahaan Lets go!” which enthralled the whole stadium. An added electrifying music was the
song “Jai ho!” which jammed the earth by deafening howls which then marked the end of the
opening ceremony.

So this was the start of our CWG inspite of so many criticisms. One can imagine what can be

its travel through, and we wish for a successful closing ceremony for the spectacular game
event. Wish you all the luck!!

The Weavers 2010

….”And hereby I declare The Weavers-2010 open”. These were the words by our respective
Vice Chancellor for which we all were waiting for.

New FET, Old FET, Ground-The whole campus was drained in the celebration of E-day.

The day was started with software, hardware, Informal, literary and cultural events taking
simultaneously in the campus.

Coming to the technical aspects of the day, students grabbed the opportunity to test their skills
in the software area by participating in the events like Play-Station, Web-Oracle, Mystifier etc.
Blind C had the maximum no of entries which was an event of programming in C with computer
screens switched off. On one hand the hardware events like PCB Express, Junkyard Wars, Green
Villa, Cheater Cock etc. attracted the students’ attention, there on the other hand event like
DIGI-DEXTER was called off due to the absence of the heads of the event and unavailability of
the keys of the DIGI-LAB!!

Many of us thoroughly enjoyed in the informal events like Coffin Break, The Hussein effect,
Balloon Fiesta and The Kite Runner. And some students turned into vendors trying to price their
meal all day long for the society-KARUNA.

Students having an inclination for literature had a scope to play with words in the literary
events like DO Maskhare, Thoughts Posted, Rapid Fun etc. Students exercised their poetry skills
in Versed in Words. But, event like Jam Session and Deewn-e-aam could not take place due to
less turn ups.

The cultural shades of the E-day were vibrant enough to add up to the enthusiasm of the
day. Team AAWAAZ took hold of the first place by succeeding in conveying their message.
Dance events like FOOTLOOSE, RAZZLE DAZZLE, TWO STEPS, ANHATTA etc. left the audience
foot-tapping on the music notes and even the faculty members couldn’t resist the beats and
showed us their moves. Even for the non-dancers, we had events like Pappu Can’t Dance
where our college Munni was tagged. Mrignaini, a classical dance event showed us the face
of our enriched cultural dance heritage. The day also witnessed some singing stars and their
melodious voices in the musical events like Harmonize which even carved out the hidden
singers among the faculty like Nigam Sir and Kirti Ma’am.

The funny expressions and moments of the day were captured in the event-SNAPSHOTS which

filled the air with giggles.

The deserving students who bagged some or the other prize in the above mentioned events
were awarded with certificates.

Succeeding it took place the most awaited event of E-day i.e. Fashion Show-“THE MUSE”.
This time the trendy minds of our college showed the glimpse of international fashion which
included the Indian beauties in the Indian round and stunning beauties from Greek culture,
Country side, European, Hawaiian and Paris fashion trends. It was enormously applauded.

With the winding up of the fashion show, the management celebrated the grand success of
E-day with cheers. And to match up to the mood of the ambience, DJ party rocked the dance
floor!!

Save the feeling !

Sometimes somethings are just so near you, that you should by all means get aquainted with, since they are meant specially for you but you wil only realise it until later.
Thousands of incidents have happened to me when I feel this has been with me all along but never did i pay much attention to what it really encapsulates. Its like god wants you to SAVE THE FEELING for a better time..for a better moment.
If to give an instance i would like to share this -
For this to understand i have to give this certain backgorund that me (shruti) is wierdly attracted towards her music. And this that evry1 has something that they are very close to and possesive about. And music is something that evokes, modifies all my feelings. And this is not totally wierd bcoz i have met people who share the same thing as me.:D
Nywys
Once(around my 9th grade) me and one of my few friends that i enjoy sharing my music with, were disussing music as we always did during recess. She always suggested a classic rock and i added up a blues'. That day she also got NIRVANA's cd and put it into my bag. I told her not to give me - as then for me the word rock just meant banging drums..screaming guitar and crazy vocalist. She told me "shruti you have to give attention to this one" on such a serious note that i was dumbstruck for 2 seconds and then passed my quick judgement abt rock but took the cd just so not to hurt her feelings.
I took the cd but never did I try to listen what was in there. Days passed and i gave her d cd back.
She asked me if i liked it n i lied "yes" and she said "one day whenever you wil listen to these tracks, you will call me" .. i had some wierd feeling but as we alwz do wen we are teenagers- i told her to cut the crap.
Years later one of my then-new-friends told me to listen to kurt cobain.. til then i so did not want to listen to anything about rockstars because all i could interpret from their visuals was to unnecessarily get frustrated about meaningless things. I considered rock as just another version of pop culture. totally meaningless, hopeless and souless. He emphasized with great degrees how much i would like it.. but i have been more stubborn in my past.
I had tracks with me all along . But i never bothered to click them.
I also remember my friends praising kurt and putting past tense to every verb they used for kurt. But i never put my attention to things that are not of my interest.
Few months back i went to a club(not xactly! but i have no other term to define it) .. I saw this huge poster of kurt .. i kept staring at it(I had no clue it was him) .. I forgot who was with me and what is going on around...(same that happens in typical movies but it was true)
Months later i.e NOW i remembered that poster i asked my friend who was that poster of and he said "Kurt".. with the power we hold now a days, I googled Kurt.. his biography..his pics..eventually i read about his death .. about his suicide..about his life.. about his songs .. I got so much into him .. I wasted (not the term i want to use but my EXAMS were on!) my whole day i got free as a study leave, in googling everything about Kurt. Finally I heard the tracks.. "Rape Me"..david bowie's version of "The man who sold the world" .. "Jesus does not want me for his sunbeam"... I cried some small tears. I called up my old friend ( I talked to her after 6 years, we had a mojor setback) and although she must have been surprised to a great extent, the ego that comes..went away in a flash and all we left far behind came rushing by. I could look at the greater aspect... GOD JUST WANTED ME TO SAVE THE FEELING.

Inside.. in love ..

Miles apart from my love,
I feel like reaching there as dove.
Unspoken words are also loud,
Faith on my choice makes me proud.

The first thought when I wake up is YOU,
And you know the feeling is so true.
Your care for me makes me feel wanted,
Feels like lord made my wish granted.

I am waiting for the day,we will be together,
When there will be no distance and spaces to bother.
Hiding these feelings is an ardous task,
But we still hide them in our friendly mask.

This relation is beautiful,no doubt,
Lets give it a chance to sprout.

INDIA’S FADING POLITY

And a sublime land .. raised rage beyond age and years .. never knew land is divided .. never knew divided is God

There exists one Supreme Power. Or NOT! The quest to search an answer for it is still on. Many minds
pondered over it, many beliefs came into being. Everyone thought their own way and gave their own
views. As a result today we all stand divided with the bars of religion. Religion was once supposedly
related to peace and brotherhood.

But this very religion has been the root cause of the various riots, bloodshed and terrorism. And that
makes us feel victorious in terms of superiority over other communities. But is this how victory is
defined by the religion? How long do we continue to stain our hands with blood in the name of religion?
INDIA-A country which is an epitome of sanctity in terms of religion, holds her head high enough to
present the rich heritage it has bequeathed since the ages. But, today the contradiction stands on the
word- ‘is’.

Ayodhya -“Ram Janmabhoomi”...A place which stands rich in the history of religion. A belief that Lord
Rama was supposedly born here...So very genuinely this mythological fact stands significant in the
hearts of all the Hindus. The tension started with the Mughal emperor Babar, who entered India after
defeating Hindu King Rana Sangram Singh in 1527. Babar made his general Mir Banki in-charge of the
area. Banki visited Ayodhya in 1528 and reportedly built a mosque destroying a Hindu Temple. The first
Hindu-Muslim riot broke out over the issue in 1853 during British rule. Following the clashes, the then
British government erected fences around the place to divide the Hindu-Muslim worship area. Muslims
were allowed to offer prayers in the inner part of the mosque and Hindus to worship at the outer side
of the disputed construction. Being a Hindu Majority capital, some fanatics like the members of Vishwa
Hindu Parishad, members of Sangh Parivar, RSS’s were bewildered to see the mosque and they took it
as an insult towards the piece of land and their sentiments towards the place. So on December 6, 1992;
with the principal and tangible goal to demolish the mosque, it was brought down by a mob of Hindu
Extremists. The building of Rama temple in place of it was not the chief aim, the motif of it was brought
in only to mobilize support, which redefined Indian nationhood as “Hindutva”. The Ayodhya Movement
which was totally communal created a rage among both the religious communities killing about 2000
people.

It was a political movement, and not one of faith but it was manipulated by faith to sub serve its
political goals. It was a rupture in the evolution of India’s polity. The state failed to live up to the
constitutional promise. India speaks high of having the biggest constitution in the world-democratic,
secularist, republic. It claims to be transparent for all, but today, that transparency has faded its way
in the name of religion. Political parties have become opportunistically communal; their thoughts are
befuddled by the patronage of one party over the other and they represent a country which doesn’t
follow a robust democracy. The political leaders have always neglected the clear thought and vision
for the country. The question of moving to build a mosque at the site or to remove the Ram idols being
worshipped in a makeshift temple doesn’t put someone’s faith at stake. What stand at stake is our

democratic policies and the level of their maturity.

Now, this stands as a 60 year long case, whose verdict is yet to be announced on 28th of September,
2010. It's all boots on the ground in Uttar Pradesh. Over a lakh uniformed men have been brought in
to police every corner of Ayodhya, Faizabad, Lucknow and 19 other sensitive areas in the state. Not
wanting to take any chances, the Mayawati government has banned all peace – protest rallies and the
distribution of sweets, post the verdict. Entry into the premises of the Lucknow High Court where the
verdict will be delivered has been restricted – the registrar has asked lawyers who don't have a case
on 28th, not to come to court. Not just that, security for the three judges who will read out the historic
Babri verdict has been doubled.

Should the Muslims hand over the land for the temple to be built? Or they should fight for their religious
sentiments which have been hurt by the bringing down of the mosque? Or they should fight for the fact
that they stand out as minorities in *‘Hindu’stan*? Or Hindus are completely justified in their act? Or the
issue stands on the fact that what is prior-Politics or Faith? …Who stands right is very difficult to decide.
The cause of the pandemonium has been due to the unrefined and crude behavior of the parties in their
own interest.

Now, we as the onlookers can just comment a few words on this matter but can’t really look upon for
a decision. The only hope we can stand on, is that, the matter is solved amicably whichever way the
verdict goes.

Battle Every Day !

CLOCK v/s I - A BATTLE EVERYDAY
  Day: everyday
  Place : Hostel 12s1,room no.125,mits

Time : 07:30a.m.
Alarm went off, but how can somebody expect from a nocturnal creature, in her deepest non-lucid dreams  to hear it , but in an unconscious state she puts the alarm on snooze. After 10 minutes, as instructed to it, the alarm starts shouting again but poor thing does not know, there is no one to take care of it's throat and is put on snooze again. This sequence of activity is repeated and then enters a girl with a bucket in her hand saying or rather scolding, "abhi tak soyi hai, college nahi jaana kya?". Innocent creature cozy in her bed suddenly takes notice, comes back to the earth and looks at clock -"oh my god! its 8:00". and now the story of "Struggling everyday" starts.

Analysis of situation :
OPTION I) 10 minutes if stomach is to be taken care of .
OPTION II) 20 minutes if cleanliness of body is to be taken care of which remained heedless for past 2 days

Road map for option I(if chosen) – Brush the teeth, change and run for mess.
Possible ramifications: 1) Its 8:19 and able to reach mess and got entry

Pros: Have the pleasure to have breakfast
Cons: Late by 10 min for class, par itna to chalta hai after all its 1 hour lecture and missing                                      10 min, not a big deal.

OR

2) Its 8:21, and again arguing with the man in black and white, who  keeps a watch at mess’s door,  that its 8:20 and I have right to go in but that Khadoos man will say a big “NO”, and will add to it a piece of suggestion ,“if you want to have breakfast, maintain time” ,leaving me miffed. So, the final resort is to call some day-ski friend and ask her to bring something for my appetite’s sake if she has not left for class which is rarity.
Pros: will reach class at time
Cons: making my stomach think that my throat has been cut.
Road map for option II (if resorted) -
Brush the teeth, take bath and run for class

This option is implicitly implying and will make sure that I famish severely for at least semi-quarter of the day making it an inevitable disadvantage.
Possible ramifications: 1) managed to come out of bathroom in time and able to reach class on acceptable time.
            Pros:
     1) Though not de-jure but its de-facto and accepted to be in class by 8:40 as already explained above.
            OR
    2) Ghost of excessive cleanliness overpowered my mind and when I am out (of bathroom) its already 40 min past 8:00.
Now this is the ramification that requires very intelligent analysis, indecent haste and excessive valour.
First Analysis: should I try for class or its better to jump in directly during the next class.
Indecent haste: indecent haste, if decision is that I should try for class. As you must have noticed this is the fundamental requirement of my life but in some cases becomes more fundamental. So, you can always find somebody scuttling through Mody streets with an umbrella in one hand and managing her hair with other and yes not to forget managing a bag with entangled straps on one of the shoulders.

Second analysis: This requirement arises when suddenly my conscious opens its eyes and I face attack of penitence and embarrassment. When standing outside the class you look at teacher who is deeply emerged in teaching his/her attentive pupils with innovative pedagogical methods. Will it be ok to disturb him? Depending on what my vivek permits during that hour of clock, I take action. If disturbing is out of the option then library is a beautiful place to have forty winks. Otherwise, you require something which is very rare to find, excessive valour.

Excessive valour: There are times when you must decide and take the bull by horns. Asking, ”May I come in sir/ma’am” at 8:50 for the class which starts at 8:30. is work of no coward. and even if serendipitously peon has left open another door (back of the class), it also requires enough intrepidity to enter when lecturer is busy scribbling something on board and sit quietly on the last bench. Because   you never know when a lecturer’s sharp ear catches the khusur - pusur created in the class with an entry in such a bizarre way, though my classmates have now acknowledged this and hardly make any sound but a thief always fears no matter how sneaky he is.  Often, in such cases people fear when I sit besides them for the obvious reason and I am asked to change my place.
This struggling with time also sometimes proves to be a blessing in disguise when I find that when I reach 20 minutes late, class starts 25 min late, and when I happen to be an hour late class starts  65 min late (3 hours TIME class) and then when my friends say “what did you do? This, cant be coincidence”, it is enough to tickle me all pink and making me feel fortunate and strengthening my firm belief in Him that He understands that this recurrent process of ‘being late’ is absolutely non intentional with no fault of mine and I try my level best to win this battle struggling hard against the clock but as I am not so experienced as clock, which is practicing since so many centuries, so it is verily discernible who faces the defeat.
Vote of thanks- To my readers to bear my rambling on the topic, and my friends, acquaintances, lecturers for forbearing my tardiness.

Words Which Never Got Mouth

I wake up and make it through the day ignoring it. But at the end of the day I have to face the fact that she's going away and I have no chance to see her for another year. The girl who has been my confidante. She's moving to Los Angeles for higher studies. She got accepted at University of California. I know I should be happy, I am too. So proud of her. I mean..its's UCLA!!!! But I am not at all happy that she would be moving to a different time zone (we would talk less), she would meet new people, get involved in different clubs than me and eventually lead a life of which I'm no more a part. Not that I have been, atleast for the past two years. But of course, she was always a call away. It was comforting.
I am speaking about my friend..my best friend or the word "soul sister" would be more appropriate. We first met 5 years back. She was a fresher in our school, grade 9. We hit it off instantly. It was like having met a mirror..just a non identical clone..clone of the soul. Our way of thinking and way of perception was similar beyond belief. There was no reason we wouldn't be the best of chums. We even looked similar in some ways, though she is way too beautiful than me. Two years spent with her are probably the best years of my life. All we needed to enjoy was each other and our ability to speak. The world didn't matter anymore. We talked about anything and everything. There isn't a topics under the sun that we haven't talked about. We became close overtime. Like friends who could complete each other's sentences, know what's in their heart by just looking in the eyes, who understand perfectly.
Unfortunately I had to shift towns and that came as a blow to both of us. All the times spent together, all the nights we spent together glued to the phone talking nonsense, it would all come to a standstill. That would be because we wouldn't share the same world. Universes apart. Initially everything remained almost the same (including our phone bills) but eventually the spark faded away. People say that if we reached such a state, we were never that good friends. But I know better. Life just got in the way.
I missed her everyday since I saw her last. Thought about her daily. She has been my inspiration since ever.I met her after two years after leaving town. And things were different. We didn't flop on her bed like we used to. We sat in the guest room sedately. I was never a guest at her home before, I was always a part of it.Her room wasn't the same. New furnishings. It wasn't our den anymore. And it stung to know that probably it's someone else's den now. And then it was time to say goodbye again. Awkwardeness in the air. The hug was not the way it used to be. And of all of these new and strange things make me want to go back to the times we shared earlier.
Like I used to write for her. Oh yes..I wrote a lot on her. The first verse that I wrote for her made her cry.
There's this girl, my real friend
Who's laughter never ends
She goes on and on, never revealing
All her deepest, bitter feelings
I wish I was her
In hiding my emotions
Something I couldn't achieve
After all my devotion
She's my life, my world
My very soul
There's something about her
Which isn't there in all
Yet she's not the same as she was
She has just ..changed a lot
I remember when we first met
She was so cute, such a pet
All her innocence is now gone
As if she's wearing a mask on
But underneath this new girl
I still find the person I knew
The very same person
Who became so grotesque
It's her life, she's free
But she has always been there for me
Her position in my life
Cannot be replaced
My love for her
Cannot be displaced
To her, I would like to convey
Thank you, for all the smiles you have given to me
And remember, I'll be there for you, eternally...
I know it wasn't that great. I was 15 when I wrote that. I hope it remains it special to her. Because I want to remember her the way I knew her. And even though she has changed so much, what soothes my soul is the memory of "old -her". I remember her so distinctly...
The way you move in your sleep
The way you look before you leap
The deep illusion that you keep
You never knew, but i was noticing
The shimmer in your eye when it twinkles
The way your nose crinkles
The way your uniform always had wrinkles
You never knew, but i was noticing
Your hands that look so dinky
Your mood swings, so cranky
The jerk of your ponytail, so jaunty
You never knew, but i was noticing
The way you laughed all around
The way you threw things on the ground
The way you looked when you were spell bound
You never knew, but i was noticing
The way your lips twitched when you were about to cry
The way your hair looked when they weren't dry
The way you lazed around, not ready to try
You never knew, but i was noticing
The way you hated to stand in a row
The way you curved your eyebrow
The way you complained that people grow
You never knew, but i was noticing
The way you hated to eat red
The way you always flopped on your bed
I remember the way you bled
You never knew, but i was noticing
And now probably you've forgotten the places you haunted
But I hope you get everything you wanted
I wish your every wish is granted
'Cuz you never know, I might be missing.

After all the hard times our friendship has gone through, we both know that we are still bound to each other, still connected in our most vulnerable states..and there's one thing I know for sure..she's one person I'll never get over in my life...

“Mehangai Daayan Khaaye Jaat hai”

“Listen friend, my husband earns too much but this price rise which is a witch craft eats too much.” This song is the social and political system of our nation and a war on the current inflation and high prices of all general and daily use commodities. But the Government could not see the fuss of the people hassling about the price rise, but they are more alarmed at whom did BJP portray as the ‘mehangai dayan’ ! Was this pointed to Sonia Gandhi? Yeah, they got a fresh theme to argue upon!! Inflation..... Will it fly to the boundaries of the common man’s income, or will it suppress the expectations of a living desire created by the almighty, or will it steal the smile of longings of the masses? In Economics it is ‘inflation’, but the bottom one-third of the country’s one billion plus population know it in terms of starvation, need, distress or scarcity. Over the last seven months, food inflation has ranged between 13% and 20%. India is such a compassionate country that it exports its food products and itself borrows the same from Burma. Why should not the farmers commit suicide when they only get 1/3rd of the price paid by the consumers? Where is the rest of the cash? Traders and market manipulators are the real slayers of the farmers. The basic requirements are at threat. Education, investments, real-estates, travel, medicines, luxuries have no doubt seen the skies. Many retired people do not keep up with increases in the price level. They feel the world upside down and inside out in terms of economy. Money lenders are at loss. Prices tomorrow will be higher than they are now, in this consideration people spend more and more on even items like jewellery which does not help in the economic growth of the nation. The Indian ‘rupaya’ is going hotter day by day, which certainly shows the economic development and the rising of standard of living in the society but the heat is paralyzing the normal lives. Food tax, road tax, water tax, bank tax, transfer tax, consumption tax, toll etcetera. Were these less that we are again demanded for an ‘income tax’?? Guys, why don’t you ask for an air tax? Or a writing tax will be better! Huh! So now, where does our tax go? Mind that it is the sweat of the common folks. Did you hear “The Union cabinet has cleared a 200 per cent hike in salaries and allowances of our MPs, but they aren't happy!” They need just a one rupee extra than the salary of the highest paid bureaucrats, just one rupee extra not more. Don’t they even know that those highly paid civilians have cleared their IAS entrance exams and after a long job experience, have reached that place? How would they? Everybody knows what is the educational qualification of an MP?

Some facts:

1) Today, out of 543 MPs in Lok Sabha, 315 are crorepatis.

2) The cost-to-country of each of our MPs is 68 times what an average Indian makes. In comparison, lawmakers in Singapore, Japan and Italy respectively cost their countries four times, six times and seven times what the average citizen in each of those countries earns.

3) The number of days they actually work in Parliament are barely 60 in a year.

4) 150 MPs elected last year have criminal cases against them.

5) There are also allowances to wash curtains and sofa covers and a rather funny allowance of Rs 1,000 per day to attend Parliament!!

Well, what does this relate to the misery of people by price rise? It does. What do you think, where does money come to our rulers to shell out these undeserved people? Yes, it is our tax, our salaried income that adds to their luxury! In the middle group, where inflation rises by 10%, income grows by 3%. And in some groups, incomes do not rise at all! And our leaders, still not satisfied? This ‘witch’ does not keep room for savings, and by discouraging savings, inflation can harm economy. Economy needs a supply of saving to provide the funds for people and businesses to borrow so that they can invest in the things that help the economy grow. But who cares?
