That Thing About Writers

And I was asked to interview him. How as a child I always wanted to have a glimpse of his demeanor . He was and still is my favourite writer. The connection isn't esoteric , unlike the other things in life. I like his words , and the way he veils some , and says a lot, more than one can decipher. He forages the readers mind and hits exactly on the subject that would excite them. And in my case, I'm simply dumbstruck by his language!
He had a subtle hint of youth on his face, making him more attractive than those of his age. Attraction has different weird laws, those which are culpable to ruin hearts and brain , mine was just normal, I'm usually not used to being attached.
Nevertheless that was not the topic of concern. I had to focus on this interview . Its the only thing that pays .

And he lit up his cigar carefully, and with dreamy eyes overlooked my presence, while I watched him like a puppy wailing for attention. And after , I suppose, pondering upon each and every thing in our vicinity , he noticed I was there to interview him. Felt like euphoria (sorry for exaggerating).

My heart doubled the beat , while he smiled, and said " Yeah . Lets start "
I wondered is the thing I'll next do as exotic as his gesture, but never mind, I'll begin, the time of my life .
" Sir , How did you decide to enter this field ?  I mean writing was a scarcely populated profession in India while you must have decided to take it up. Din't the other professions lure you ? "

He passed me a humble glimpse, and said " Never . I'm not lured by things tangible by instinct . I always believed there's a power in some selective people of this world , by which they rule minds of the rest of the people. I wanted   such clout . And so here I am. I love Bryan Adams by the way . Do you ? "

What was that !!
" ofcourse I do sir. He's epic ! "

He passed a smile again. This time, an unadjustable one.

Ohkay .. So I'll move to my next question .

" Sir do you believe in legends ? "
He dreamily looked away from me, as if I drifted him into some other world, and with a meaningful smile , spoke
" If only men were immortal , I would have believed in legends. They die along with the people who took them as legends. There's nothing like legends "

Deep thought. Burp !
" Sir are you a liar or you stick to the veracity of words "
He : " I'm human. Thats all I've known till now. And you my girl, must change this categorical chase. What fits in , is always out of this world ;) "

I like the my girl and the bonus wink . And it all made me profusely blush!

" Sir ... "
" Call me Riyaan "
:D
I think he'll add me on Facebook now !!

" Sure Riyaan. what according to you is growing old ? "
" Just like old times and memories, age also learns to wither . For good or for bad, I certainly want to witness an age of obvious oblivion. No one would then at least blame me for the things I forget. I can be choosy in remembering  with wish and will "

I looked at my diary on which I was writing his answers . I wanted to know which one of them will count as answers anyway .
I resumed .

" Riyaan , Whats Love ? "
Riyaan submerged his eyelids into each other. His face looked beautiful as if carved after taking time, carved after giving love.

And then he took a long breath and said.
" someone will adore the air I breathe , and understand my silent arcs and my consequent lust . Love will be unsaid, just in her eyes and floating freely in my heart "

I took time to understand his words . They were indeed lovely .

" So you believe in silent love ? "

" Yes. Whats spoken is for mere pleasure . I just failed to define it. How can someone love and define too ? "
I was in awe of his words. How can some things, as mere as words, make you feel brimmed with things beyond your understanding ?
I asked again , this time, out of curiosity , " So you are in love ? "
Though I would feel a pang of jealousy if he says yes , but my boss might get happy if I get a straight answer to this one .
He smiled. Me too . And said , " Till I'm not done with the definition of love , I can't get close to it. I guess I'll take my own time figuring things out. "

And I took it to be a no.

" ok Riyaan. Thank you for all this time. I am enlightened by your presence. Hope your next book comes out soon. We're desperately waiting !! " and wondered if I'm sounding fake after my last line.
And he , just smiled, and said " Thank you "

While on my way back I wondered what pleasure it gives people like Riyaan to play with words. Its not like playing with someones mind . But more like playing with your own mind and soul, everytime looking for what you would want , what you have always wanted. And airing them in a way , that your words, no matter how crisp , rude or vulgar , will be adored.

Power will stay in their hands. I feel like the pawn .
And he did add me on facebook !
:D

Incredible India!!

Enhancing India’s glory, with its success story... The opening and closing ceremony marks
the success of any occasion, the ceremony in the Nehru Stadium was a sensation with
sprawling 60000 audiences there and billions of television viewers like us. The vibes in the
air glass cased as India being ‘The Golden Bird’ as when the aura was jammed with golden
hues. Athlete’s village was covered with more than 6700 athletes from 71 different countries
making Delhi Commonwealth Games the biggest ever. With the shimmering and stunning
explosives in the sky, the 70 crore aerostat escalated 25 metres high, reflecting the radiance
and shades of the rostrum as an indication of the opening of the games. The Rajasthani
puppets drooped from the vivid aerostat as greetings to its excited spectators. It seemed that
the field was filled with every blend of RGB, the three basic colours exhibiting India’s
diverse culture and traditions and its fiscal position. 1000 drummers from places like Ladakh,
Punjab, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka heralded the occasion
with a bang. The eager crowd was then addressed by the dignitaries present. The howl of the
mass gave optimistic energy to the OC(Organising Committee). Every criticism went
missing, and people were all over keyed up for their nation’s pride. Former President Dr A P
J Kalaam was greeted most heartily and Kalmaadi was booed at the most. PM Man Mohan
Singh welcomed everyone and wished to establish a bond of unity. And then, the awaiting,
Prince Charles who was representing the royal family and thus Queen Elizabeth (who is the
head of the CWG); read the Queen’s message and declared the Games owpen. On behalf of
Delhi and the nation, President Pratibha Patil concluded her speech by announcing “The 2010
Commonwealth Games in Delhi are now open. Let the Games begin”. That was the
moment of pride and pleasure with the heart throbbing for the nation; and the
thunderous multitude’s roar hailed for the country. The Queen’s baton had been handed
over just a year ago at London's Buckingham Palace and was carried through relay runners
through all the countries and territories of the Commonwealth. This baton was carried by the
sporting champions; to start with was the handsome Olympics bronze medallist boxer
Vijender Singh and was handed over to the Prince of Wales by the wrestler Sushil Kumar.
Then various march pasts hit the path with grandeur; numerous men carried the flags of
different nations with celebrated India leading the way! Pakistan was applauded
extraordinarily like we make the best of friends! Then the Games flag was hoisted when the
well-groomed and dashing Indian captain, Abhinav Bindra(Olympic gold medallist), on
behalf of all the athletes took the oath and carried our esteemed tri colour. The sight was then
an azure in the aerostat and a booming and dazzling of the fireworks which was a striking
view. The drapes dropped inaugurating the 5000 years of Indian culture with the Guru
Shishya parampara of imparting gen with the background tune of ‘budhham sharnam
gachhaami’. Blue of the spaceship aerostat turned green and a newness bloomed the vision.
Classical dances from different states in myriad shades of orange, green, blue, white, green
show cased the various climates; all tapping in unison to their own steps on the same music
presenting the basic of India’s heritage ‘unity in diversity’. Krishna and Gopiyaan played
raasleela on enchanting songs and vibrant dresses...with the music tatdhoom dhoom! Then the
secular India came into view with the Yogic poses of people in lighted heads. The aerostat
descended to emerge the knowledge tree which was an enlightening man with emerging
powers. Technology drove the glittering spirals in the human. It portrayed the shakti of a man

which takes energy from all the Gods. Next on the melody of ‘chaiyaan chaiyaan’ came the
country’s glory, Indian railways with Hussain hailing on the engine of the train to explore the
nation. It was the ‘vividh sanskriti ki jhalak’ with the common man, the
politicians, ‘jhoomar’, large turban and a but obvious ‘nimboo mirchi’ to shield the games
from bad lucks, our village was portrayed. The harmonious ‘vaishno jan to tene kahiye’ was
played and the Father of the nation was recalled through sand paintings on the historic dandi
march. The knowledge tree turned to the image of Mahatma Gandhi. Prince Charles and his
wife were intensely absorbed by the magnificence of the event. So he termed it
an “experience of lifetime”! It really was! We wished Bapu were here! Now the vibrancy
with colours came and dances from several states with greeting flowers came with the stirring
music of ‘dhol baaje ...dhol..ki dham dham baaje dhol..’ Then came the most awaited ‘theme
song’ of the CWG by A.R. Rehmaan.. it came like..”Jeeyo, utho, Badho, Jeeto Tera mera
jahaan Lets go!” which enthralled the whole stadium. An added electrifying music was the
song “Jai ho!” which jammed the earth by deafening howls which then marked the end of the
opening ceremony.

So this was the start of our CWG inspite of so many criticisms. One can imagine what can be

its travel through, and we wish for a successful closing ceremony for the spectacular game
event. Wish you all the luck!!

The Weavers 2010

….”And hereby I declare The Weavers-2010 open”. These were the words by our respective
Vice Chancellor for which we all were waiting for.

New FET, Old FET, Ground-The whole campus was drained in the celebration of E-day.

The day was started with software, hardware, Informal, literary and cultural events taking
simultaneously in the campus.

Coming to the technical aspects of the day, students grabbed the opportunity to test their skills
in the software area by participating in the events like Play-Station, Web-Oracle, Mystifier etc.
Blind C had the maximum no of entries which was an event of programming in C with computer
screens switched off. On one hand the hardware events like PCB Express, Junkyard Wars, Green
Villa, Cheater Cock etc. attracted the students’ attention, there on the other hand event like
DIGI-DEXTER was called off due to the absence of the heads of the event and unavailability of
the keys of the DIGI-LAB!!

Many of us thoroughly enjoyed in the informal events like Coffin Break, The Hussein effect,
Balloon Fiesta and The Kite Runner. And some students turned into vendors trying to price their
meal all day long for the society-KARUNA.

Students having an inclination for literature had a scope to play with words in the literary
events like DO Maskhare, Thoughts Posted, Rapid Fun etc. Students exercised their poetry skills
in Versed in Words. But, event like Jam Session and Deewn-e-aam could not take place due to
less turn ups.

The cultural shades of the E-day were vibrant enough to add up to the enthusiasm of the
day. Team AAWAAZ took hold of the first place by succeeding in conveying their message.
Dance events like FOOTLOOSE, RAZZLE DAZZLE, TWO STEPS, ANHATTA etc. left the audience
foot-tapping on the music notes and even the faculty members couldn’t resist the beats and
showed us their moves. Even for the non-dancers, we had events like Pappu Can’t Dance
where our college Munni was tagged. Mrignaini, a classical dance event showed us the face
of our enriched cultural dance heritage. The day also witnessed some singing stars and their
melodious voices in the musical events like Harmonize which even carved out the hidden
singers among the faculty like Nigam Sir and Kirti Ma’am.

The funny expressions and moments of the day were captured in the event-SNAPSHOTS which

filled the air with giggles.

The deserving students who bagged some or the other prize in the above mentioned events
were awarded with certificates.

Succeeding it took place the most awaited event of E-day i.e. Fashion Show-“THE MUSE”.
This time the trendy minds of our college showed the glimpse of international fashion which
included the Indian beauties in the Indian round and stunning beauties from Greek culture,
Country side, European, Hawaiian and Paris fashion trends. It was enormously applauded.

With the winding up of the fashion show, the management celebrated the grand success of
E-day with cheers. And to match up to the mood of the ambience, DJ party rocked the dance
floor!!

Save the feeling !

Sometimes somethings are just so near you, that you should by all means get aquainted with, since they are meant specially for you but you wil only realise it until later.
Thousands of incidents have happened to me when I feel this has been with me all along but never did i pay much attention to what it really encapsulates. Its like god wants you to SAVE THE FEELING for a better time..for a better moment.
If to give an instance i would like to share this -
For this to understand i have to give this certain backgorund that me (shruti) is wierdly attracted towards her music. And this that evry1 has something that they are very close to and possesive about. And music is something that evokes, modifies all my feelings. And this is not totally wierd bcoz i have met people who share the same thing as me.:D
Nywys
Once(around my 9th grade) me and one of my few friends that i enjoy sharing my music with, were disussing music as we always did during recess. She always suggested a classic rock and i added up a blues'. That day she also got NIRVANA's cd and put it into my bag. I told her not to give me - as then for me the word rock just meant banging drums..screaming guitar and crazy vocalist. She told me "shruti you have to give attention to this one" on such a serious note that i was dumbstruck for 2 seconds and then passed my quick judgement abt rock but took the cd just so not to hurt her feelings.
I took the cd but never did I try to listen what was in there. Days passed and i gave her d cd back.
She asked me if i liked it n i lied "yes" and she said "one day whenever you wil listen to these tracks, you will call me" .. i had some wierd feeling but as we alwz do wen we are teenagers- i told her to cut the crap.
Years later one of my then-new-friends told me to listen to kurt cobain.. til then i so did not want to listen to anything about rockstars because all i could interpret from their visuals was to unnecessarily get frustrated about meaningless things. I considered rock as just another version of pop culture. totally meaningless, hopeless and souless. He emphasized with great degrees how much i would like it.. but i have been more stubborn in my past.
I had tracks with me all along . But i never bothered to click them.
I also remember my friends praising kurt and putting past tense to every verb they used for kurt. But i never put my attention to things that are not of my interest.
Few months back i went to a club(not xactly! but i have no other term to define it) .. I saw this huge poster of kurt .. i kept staring at it(I had no clue it was him) .. I forgot who was with me and what is going on around...(same that happens in typical movies but it was true)
Months later i.e NOW i remembered that poster i asked my friend who was that poster of and he said "Kurt".. with the power we hold now a days, I googled Kurt.. his biography..his pics..eventually i read about his death .. about his suicide..about his life.. about his songs .. I got so much into him .. I wasted (not the term i want to use but my EXAMS were on!) my whole day i got free as a study leave, in googling everything about Kurt. Finally I heard the tracks.. "Rape Me"..david bowie's version of "The man who sold the world" .. "Jesus does not want me for his sunbeam"... I cried some small tears. I called up my old friend ( I talked to her after 6 years, we had a mojor setback) and although she must have been surprised to a great extent, the ego that comes..went away in a flash and all we left far behind came rushing by. I could look at the greater aspect... GOD JUST WANTED ME TO SAVE THE FEELING.

Inside.. in love ..

Miles apart from my love,
I feel like reaching there as dove.
Unspoken words are also loud,
Faith on my choice makes me proud.

The first thought when I wake up is YOU,
And you know the feeling is so true.
Your care for me makes me feel wanted,
Feels like lord made my wish granted.

I am waiting for the day,we will be together,
When there will be no distance and spaces to bother.
Hiding these feelings is an ardous task,
But we still hide them in our friendly mask.

This relation is beautiful,no doubt,
Lets give it a chance to sprout.
